Meet the Mets

As expected, the New York Mets have tendered contracts to all eight of their eligible players: Noah Syndergaard, Marcus Stroman, Steven Matz, Brandon Nimmo, Edwin Diaz, Seth Lugo, and Robert Gsellman.

Nimmo, the happiest man in baseball, will don the Santa Claus costume for a third consecutive year to spread some holiday cheer at Citi Field on December 4 at the team’s annual holiday party. J.D. Davis will serve as his elf.

On the night before the holiday party, Nimmo will appear at Citibank’s Union Square branch to benefit No Kid Hungry. He will be taking photos and signing autographs for fans from 4:00pm-5:30pm on Tuesday, December 3.

With rumors swirling that the Mets could be a potential trade partner to acquire Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers, Peter Botte of the NY Post looked at how trading for the closer would boost a position that ruined the team in 2019.

Botte’s colleague, Joel Sherman, disagreed, seeing Hader as a risk the Mets cannot take.
