Pinch Me. I think I’m dreaming. Are the Astros really for real?
On Monday they scored 16 runs, 11 in one inning. On Tuesday they won 7-2. Surely the Twins would manage to salvage one game here in Minneapolis.
The Astros really scored 17 runs tonight here in Minnesota. That’s 40 for the three-game series. Forty seven hits. Eighty four total bases. Ten home runs.
Tonight was the best. It doesn’t get any better. Seventeen runs, 19 hits, six homers.
It started early. In the first inning three hole hitter Carlos Correa knocked in the lead-off man, George Springer, with a massive home run to left.
The second inning was quiet. It was one of only two innings in which the Astros did not score. But in the third inning the Astros added two more on RBI singles by Carlos Correa and Evan Gattis.
In the third and fourth innings the Twins made it seem like this might be a game, scoring one in each frame to bring the score to 4-2.
But in the fifth inning the Astros widened their lead on a solo homer by Springer, and in the sixth Alex Bregman added his own dinger, his third in three games.
