Meet the Mets

The Mets lost a game on Tuesday night they had no chance of ever winning after sending out Jerad Eickhoff to face the Braves in an important divisional game. Eickhoff pitched poorly, and the game was over very early on.

The Mets have expressed concerns with the medicals of their first round pick Kumar Rocker, specifically his elbow, as they have yet to sign him.

Travis Blankenhorn was optioned to make room for Jerad Eickhoff.

The Mets were reportedly interested in Pirates starter Tyler Anderson.

Max Scherzer is another pitcher the Mets may have been interested in, though it’s highly unlikely the Nationals would trade him to their division rival, or that Scherzer would approve a trade to the Mets. On Tuesday, Mark Feinsand reported Scherzer prefers to end up on the west coast if he is traded.

As the trade deadline nears, the Mets have different routes they can consider on how they choose to potentially upgrade the team.

Noah Syndergaard threw off a mound in the Mets bullpen on Tuesday afternoon for the first time since his setback in late May.
